Quid Pro Quo

Here we are at the end of the day of helping to plant the orchard of Valley Flora Farms. UCM is just above and beyond Bob's right shoulder. It was a wonderful day which demonstrated how a community can come together for one purpose and to great effect. Everyone who attended fell into the job they were best suited for that day. Sylvia was happy to dig holes and Bob ended up with the clipboard helping to keep the process moving.

Abby (Diva of Dirt) had grafted ~ 200 apple, plum and pear trees in ~ 35 varieties that made it into the ground on this day. When Abby learned that Sylvia's sister was named Katja then she insisted we take an apple variety named Katja home with us. You can see it in Sylvia's left hand.

Below is the planting effort underway with the various grafts in tubs while holes are being dug 10 feet on center. For lunch there was a pot luck with mostly Flora Farms Produce. Great salads and fruit, and cookies etc. Not shown in the photos are Lee and Coda romping with other dogs inside the fenced in orchard site. And yes that is Sylvia on the left and Daniel the acupuncturist/kiter framed by the saplings.
