Sunset Calm after the Storm

The force of nature on the Oregon Coast continually amazes us.
This photo was taken at sunset soon after a storm front had passed through. If you look closely at dune grass in the foreground you can see it is all laying down. That is because the ocean waves were carrying over the dunes and draining into Floras Lake. For this storm winds were a typical 70+mph. The significant data for this storm was the swell reported at 17 to 20 feet at 16 seconds... that might have helped the waves crest the top of the dunes.
